From Bizet, composer of Carmen, comes another tale of heated desire, exotic locales, and ravishing music.  In a fishing village in ancient Ceylon, two men re-affirm their friendship after their rivalry for the same woman has almost destroyed them both.  But then, she comes back into their lives.  Betrayal and desire are the rules, turning friend against friend, pushing them all toward a terrifying and violent climax.  The Pearl Fishers is one of the most sensual operas ever written with music as steaming as the hot sands of India, as perfumed and opulent as the fleeting memory of a forbidden dream.

Sung in French with projected English translations.
